Take Five! ( And some Blog Candy!!)

I decided this week to challenge myself by using only five products to create a layout - in this case, cardstock, patterned paper, stamps, ink and my Cricut.  I have to admit I am an embellishment junkie, but I wanted to see if I could come up with something using just the basics!

Because Canada Day is right around the corner, and I have some great photos to scrap from LAST year's celebrations, I started with that.  It helped that the June Stamp of the Month (available for just a couple more days for $5 with your $50 purchase!!) was a perfect fit, and I really wanted to use the Canadian Celebration (D1459) stamp set, as well!

I started out by making some patterned paper:

And a few page elements:

Added the patterned paper:

And got busy with my Cricut and paper trimmer:

The final product, which I am pretty happy with, is here:

I finished up by adding some stamped images to the background.  Total time about 45 minutes from start to finish, and I didn't spend an hour looking for the perfect embellishment!!  It was a fun challenge,
and I may just try it again soon!  I challenge you to use your stamps to create a page (or two) and
post a link in the comments - I have a little mini stamp set which I will draw for on July 3
from all  those who post a comment with a link!!!

Sib (ling) Love

June has been a busy month with Hannah's grad, softball and the abrupt end of school due to a teacher's strike. The good news is that it feels like summer is really here and the pace has now slowed down-
which means more scrappy time!!!

I have been experimenting with making spray ink from re inkers and then using it more on my layouts.
So far I am happy with the results!!!

On this layout of Hannah with her brothers on grad night, I used ink, a spray bottle with water and some overlays to create a background. I then used paper from the Lollydoodle paper pack and
some washi tape to create the layout.

The title was made with July's Stamp of the Month (available for only $5 with a qualifying purchase July 1-31). The Circus Alphabet stamp is very versatile and has an upper and lower case alphabet, plus numbers!  Fun!

Here are a couple of close ups:

Now for some more scrappy time!!!
 I {heart} Summer!!

Happy Day everyone!

Card time again!

It has been a bit since I posted some of the cards I have been working on - I love the satisfaction of making cards - they are generally pretty easy and actually get finished!

A few stamps, a little cardstock and patterned paper, and my Cricut and these three cards were a snap to put together!

What have YOU been working on lately?  Cards?  layouts?  Pocket style scrapbooks?  I am looking forward to some quality scrapping time this summer - and  I have a feeling I will be working on all three!!

Happy Day everyone!

Post Graduation Layouts!

As I mentioned in my last post, my oldest daughter graduated from high school last week.  It was a weekend filled with excitement, emotion, and of course many, many photos!  I squeezed in time to finish a couple of single layouts this past weekend!

It was great to get some family photos along with the graduation and prom photos.  I am so happy about these ones of Hannah with her dad and I!  The first layout uses the Ariana paper, which is really perfect for black and white photos!  I love converting colour photos to black and white when there are some clashing colours in the photos, or I just want to use some favourite supplies!

And a close up!

All supplies are Close to My Heart, with the exception of the Thickers,
which are from American Crafts.

The next layout is a picture of me with all four of my kids - something I have to say I have never been able to organise before!  I have lots of them with Mark, but I am usually the
photographer and not in the photos at all!!!

I love the bright colours of the  Lollydoodle line, and the self adhesive
sequins are perfect for a little bit of bling!

Stay tuned for more graduation and prom layouts in the days ahead -
I need to do something with all those photos!!!

Happy Day!

Welcome to June!

It is hard to believe June is here already!  The last month has flown by and for our family was filled with birthday celebrations and the graduation of our oldest daughter.  Now I have more than a few photos to scrap!!! Here is a sample of the many photos I took:

This month's stamp of the month is pretty cute and I can't wait to use it with some of my Canada Day photos from last year!  I think it will also be great for birthday and other celebration themed cards!!

Later this week I will be posting some of what I have created with this month SOTM!  And just maybe a grad photo layout or two, or three, or. . . . !!!

Happy Day everyone!
